President Yoweri Museveni’s younger brother, Michael Nuwagira, also known as Toyota, has distanced himself from individuals in government who thrive on being antagonistic toward the political opposition. He emphasized his willingness to engage with those who oppose the government, indicating a desire for cooperation and peaceful dialogue.
Toyota expressed openness to meeting with the opposition, specifically mentioning NUP President Bobi Wine as someone he would not hesitate to interact with. He conveyed that his approach to politics is not rooted in hatred, but rather in fairness and respect for all individuals, regardless of their political stance.
These remarks were made during a Sunday service at Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s Worship House Church in Nansana. Toyota was responding to the pastor’s plea for the government to allow churches to help bridge the political divide in the country. Bugembe noted that religious leaders are often criticized when seen with politicians from the opposition.
During the service, Toyota also delivered a contribution of Shs 20 million to assist Pastor Bugembe with the completion of his new church. He further promised to invite President Museveni to visit the church in the future.
