A young Kampala businesswoman, known as Agie, the owner of Agie Fashions Men’s Wear Boutique near Romeo’s Restaurant, opposite Total Ntinda, died after a violent robbery attempt by suspected thugs on a motorcycle.
Witnesses say Agie was heading home when two men on a bodaboda tried to snatch her handbag. She fought back, refusing to let go, but the attackers pulled her off the motorcycle, causing her to fall hard and hit her head on the road.
She suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
Her death has left the Ntinda business community in deep shock. Many described her as a hardworking, determined young woman who built her fashion brand from the ground up. Friends, customers, and fellow traders have flooded social media with tributes and messages demanding justice.
The attack is the latest in a string of violent robberies blamed on kifeesi gangs—criminal groups that operate on motorcycles and target unsuspecting victims, especially at night. These gangs have previously been linked to several fatal attacks in Kampala, including the murder of a daughter of businessman Drake Lubega.
Police have opened an investigation into Agie’s death and promised to strengthen patrols and surveillance around Ntinda, where cases of street theft and bodaboda-related crime have been on the rise.
