TV Luganda news anchor Patrick Mukasa recently made an interesting observation in regards to the new infrastructure along Kubiri which is found between Mulago and Wandegeya.
According to the journalist, the new structure which is Pastor Samuel Kakande’s new church is better than Kiruddu Hospital.
This referral Hospital which is located in Buziga along Salaama road is one of Uganda’s most sophisticated health facilities. According to official sources, “It cost an estimated US$10.3 million and about $350,000 in supervisory fees to build.”
According to Mukasa, Kiruddu is no match for Kakande’s new Synagogue Church of All Nations. He said that the Church is far better looking and it seems the country is growing spiritually.
“Pastor Kakande’s newly constructed church at Mulago ku bbiri seemingly looks better and bigger than Kiruddu National Referral Hospital. The country is growing spiritually,” he said.
Apparently, this Church has been undergoing construction for the past couple of years and it has neared completion. It should be noted that pastors in Uganda are some of the wealthiest individuals.
However, most of them cannot account for this wealth and assets. Most of it is solicited from their followers who come in different honors.
These pastors live a flamboyant and lavish lifestyle as their followers languish in poverty. Their pastors tell them to wait for their miracles to happen or even find their kingdom made of gold and full of bliss in heaven.
There have severally been calls from some members of the public to regulate these people. They feel like their activities should be regulated and audited. Others even want the churches taxed, a thing these religious leaders have vehemently opposed.
