This revelation was part of a larger briefing at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, on November 25, 2024. The crackdown did not stop in Mbale, as authorities expanded their operations to other districts.
On November 22, 2024, police raided a bar in Gogonya, Wakiso District, suspected of operating as a marijuana distribution hub. While the owner managed to flee, two individuals were arrested at the scene for smoking marijuana. The establishment was found to hold significant quantities of the drug, allegedly masked as a legitimate business.
In Iganga District, coordinated police efforts led to the arrest of twelve suspects in the areas of Busei A and Nampirika.
Another operation on November 23, 2024, targeted Bengazi Ghetto in Ttega Cell, Nabbingo Ward, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District. Police apprehended a suspect, Kyalimpa Evelyn, 42, who was found with a sack containing numerous marijuana rolls and admitted to involvement in drug-related activities.
Additionally, on November 21, 2024, Kira Road Police conducted an operation in Ntinda along Stretcher Road, targeting suspected phone snatchers. The midnight raid resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals and the confiscation of eight motorcycles believed to be used in criminal activities.
