Katwe Division Police in Kampala Metropolitan South have arrested a notorious robbery gang, recovering stolen goods and bringing relief to the community.

The operation, conducted on August 2, 2024, led to the arrest of Kizito Isaac, alias Kamese, a resident of Kisangani Zone, Masaja-Makindye Division, who had broken into a house and stolen valuables worth 400,000 Ugandan shillings.

Further investigation led to the arrest of seven more suspects, all residents of Kisangani, Masaja ward, and the recovery of stolen items, including TVs, a fridge, and mattresses.

Notably, four of the eight suspects were already on the police watchlist, indicating their involvement in previous criminal activities.

The gang’s modus operandi included pretending to be scrap collectors to identify potential targets and storing stolen goods in a hideout while looking for buyers.

The successful operation is a significant milestone in the fight against crime in the area, and police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring safety and security.

The suspects are currently in custody, facing charges related to robbery and theft.
