Police, UPDF Raid Mukono Crime Spots; Dozens Arrested for Drug-Related Crimes

A joint operation involving police, the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), intelligence agencies, and local council leaders successfully dismantled criminal activity hubs in Kagala Zone, Goma Division, Mukono, on October 31, 2024.

The operation specifically targeted areas notorious for drug-related activities, where individuals were reportedly engaged in the sale and consumption of narcotics.

During the operation, authorities arrested 36 male suspects linked to criminal activities within these black spots. In addition to the arrests, several narcotic substances, including marijuana, were confiscated.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, these operations are part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety.

Police emphasized a continued commitment to intelligence-led interventions, aiming to secure communities by cracking down on high-risk areas associated with drug use and criminal behavior.
