Ghanaian police have arrested a self-styled prophet, Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, following a controversial prophecy that claimed the world would end on Christmas Day 2025.
According to reports by My Joy Online citing police sources, Eshun was taken into custody on December 31, 2025, over allegations of deceiving the public and causing widespread fear. Authorities say his claims triggered panic across the country and beyond, with hundreds of followers abandoning their homes, jobs, and schools to seek safety at locations he described as places of salvation.
Eshun, 30, rose to prominence in August 2025 through TikTok and YouTube, where he told followers he had received a divine message instructing him to build 10 modern-day arks. He claimed the structures were meant to protect believers from a three-year global flood and described them as the only safe haven. He also said more than 250,000 wooden blocks were used in their construction.
He predicted that the rains signaling the destruction of the world would begin on December 25, 2025. When nothing happened, Eshun later released a video saying God had delayed the disaster after he personally intervened and undertook a three-week fast.
Public anger intensified after he appeared on stage at rapper Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025 concert, where he told the crowd to relax and enjoy themselves because the end of the world had been postponed. The appearance sparked outrage online and renewed calls for police action.
In a statement, police said such pronouncements risk causing public panic and pose a threat to national security. They noted that earlier warnings had been issued against spreading false information capable of creating fear among the public.
Investigators are now examining Eshun’s activities, including possible financial losses suffered by his followers as a result of the failed prophecy.
