Desire Akakunda, a Senior 4 student at St. Jerome Secondary School in Ndama, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District, collapsed and died just weeks after completing her Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams.
Akakunda, who had been battling heart disease for nearly four years, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, while being rushed to Nyakibale Hospital. She had fainted while in class earlier that day.
The student, who was a resident of Garubunda Parish in Kebisoni Sub County, was just days away from sitting for her final exams when her condition worsened.
