S4 Candidate Commits Suicide After Impregnating S1 Student

A senior four candidate in Kasese district has committed suicide after impregnating a senior one student in the same school.

The deceased, identified as Maate Emmanuel, was a student at Karambi Secondary School and was preparing to sit for his final exams next week.

Samson Kule, the school deputy head teacher, told this publication that Maate had been suspended from school for impregnating a senior student.

‘’We suspended him at the beginning of this term for impregnating a form one student, and he was waiting to sit for his final exams next week,’’ he explains.

Kule also explains to this news portal that the deceased was still at home, where police and parents were handling the matter of pregnancy.

Without divulging details, Kule discloses that another senior four student was also impregnated, and she is preparing to sit for her final exams.

Paddy Muhindo, the LC3 Chairperson for Karambi Sub County, regretted the tragic incident and stressed that it’s unfortunate to lose such a young life.

“We must come together as a community to support the family and ensure that our children receive the guidance they need.”

The politician noted that Maate’s grandfather had sold his land worth two million shillings to pay a fine to the girl’s family.

“This is a stark reminder of the challenges our children face, and we must ensure that we provide them with the support and resources they need to thrive.”

By press time, the body of the deceased was at Bwera Hospital for a postmortem waiting for burial in Mirami Village, Karambi Sub County.
