Local singer Douglas Mayanja, better known as Weasel, is currently in Nsambya Hospital after he was reportedly hit by a car three times by his wife, Sandra Tete.
The incident happened at Chan’s Bar in Munyonyo, a Kampala suburb. According to people who saw what happened, Sandra hit Weasel with a car and caused serious injuries to one of his legs, including several fractures.
Sandra Tete has been arrested and is being held at Kabalagala Police Station. She told the police that earlier that day, she had a fight with Weasel at home. He allegedly chased her and their children out of the house. She then went to talk to his parents, hoping they would help fix things. However, they told her to go back to her husband and settle the matter with him directly.
Tete said that when she returned home, Weasel continued to insult and beat her. He later drove to the bar, and she followed him there. They argued again, and that’s when she reportedly entered the car and hit him.
“When he chased me and the children, I went to his parents hoping they would help us, but they told me to go back home. When I returned, Weasel kept abusing and hitting me. He later went to the bar, and I followed him. We fought again, and I ended up knocking him with the car,” Tete reportedly told the police.
Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed Sandra’s arrest and said Weasel was taken to Nsambya Hospital. He explained that the couple’s fight started at home but continued at the bar.
“Witnesses say Sandra hit Weasel three times with the car. Luckily, he survived. Our officers visited him at the hospital and were told his condition is stable, but he has multiple fractures in one leg,” Onyango said.
Weasel is the younger brother of singer Joseph Mayanja, also known as Dr Jose Chameleone. His relationship with Sandra has been troubled for a long time. They have taken each other to police several times before.
They have broken up many times, but family and friends always try to bring them back together.
