Uganda Premier League Second Assistant Referee Peter Kabugo tragically passed away on Friday evening after collapsing during a match between SC Villa and UPDF at the Wankulukuku Stadium.

The incident occurred in the 73rd minute of play, just moments after SC Villa scored their fifth goal in an intense counterattack led by Hakim Kiwanuka.

As players returned to the field from celebrating the goal, Kabugo was seen lying motionless on the far side of the pitch, prompting players and officials to rush to his aid.

The match was briefly halted as he was swiftly taken to an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital.

The fourth official, Joshua Duula, stepped in to replace him to allow the game to continue.

Unfortunately, towards the 90th minute, news started coming through confirming the sudden death of Kabugo!

The Referee’s Assessor, Rwamuyamba Rosebell Ram, was seen breaking into tears as she informed her colleagues of Kabugo’s untimely passing after the game.
