Singer Bebe Cool Urges Government to Lower Internet Costs for Economic Growth

Ugandan music icon Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has added his voice to the ongoing call for more affordable internet access in the country. In a recent statement, the artist emphasized the need for cheaper or even free internet to support digital innovation, business, and national development.

Bebe Cool pointed out that many cities around the world are leveraging unlimited internet access to reduce congestion, boost remote work, and increase productivity.

He noted that a similar approach in Uganda could help more people embrace online business and digital services without needing to relocate to urban centers.

He acknowledged that while Uganda’s internet rates have improved compared to previous years, they are still not affordable enough to compete with developed nations where public internet access is often free.

According to him, creating such an environment in Uganda would open up more opportunities, support entrepreneurship, and help the country keep pace with global technological growth.

In his words, access to affordable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity for any country aiming for sustainable economic transformation.
