Soroti is grieving the tragic loss of three young children who died from suffocation after becoming trapped in a locked vehicle while their family attended a burial in Arapai.

The children had entered the parked car unnoticed during the burial ceremony, and their unresponsive bodies were discovered when the family returned.

The Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga, Damali Nancha, confirmed the incident and extended condolences to the grieving family. The children were immediately taken to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where medical staff were unable to revive them.

Nancha urged families and caregivers to be vigilant around parked vehicles, emphasizing the importance of routinely checking them to ensure children’s safety. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, while the Soroti community stands in support of the bereaved family. The children’s bodies remain at the hospital mortuary as the community mourns.
