A tragic accident on Wednesday night along the Lwakhakha-Mbale road in Mbale District has resulted in the deaths of three people and left many others injured.

A speeding black Toyota Harrier crashed into a procession of Kadodi dancers in Nangwasi cell, Nabumali Town Council. The driver reportedly lost control as the vehicle approached the dancers.

Police responded swiftly, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital, where several remain in critical condition. Three were confirmed dead at the scene, while earlier reports indicated only two deaths.

A police statement indicated that 13 people were seriously injured. The deceased were taken to Mbale city mortuary, and those injured were admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating to determine if mechanical failure or driver error caused the accident.

The incident has raised safety concerns around Kadodi dancing, a widely practiced cultural event in the area. Recently, some incidents of vandalism by Kadodi dancers on vehicles attempting to pass through their processions have been reported.

The vehicles involved in the incident were taken to the Mbale Busoba police yard for further inspection.
