Top District Officials Arrested Over PDM Fraud in Sheema

Following numerous complaints on the mismanagement of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds in Kabwohe, Sheema district,

The AntiGraft unit, working with Police and local leaders in the district, launched an investigation where it was discovered that some of the people who had received the funds were not the intended beneficiaries.

These included teachers and some local leaders who were arrested for enabling unqualified persons to access the money.

So far, millions of shillings have been recovered and more is expected to be recovered.

Among the suspects are; 1.Nkwemerere Robert, District Speaker 2.Asasira Winson Kafurembe, the District Commercial Officer. 3.Masiko Robert, Councillor Masheruka T/C, and Secretary Production.

Investigations have so far revealed that some SACCO leaders connived with the Commercial Officer to make irregular payments of the funds by disregarding the Parish Development Committees (PDC), which are charged with the responsibility of verifying rightful beneficiaries.

The disregard was an avenue for extortion, such that those who were able to pay bribes would be made legible for payment, thus the numerous irregular payments.
