General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the UPDF and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, met with a high-level delegation from the Czech Republic on Friday afternoon at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.
The Czech delegation was led by Radka Konderlova, Director General of Military and Industrial Cooperation in the Ministry of Defence. It included Her Excellency Nicol Adamcová, the Czech Ambassador to Uganda, and Major General Petr Čepelka, the Czech Airforce commander.
Discussions during the meeting centered on security and bilateral relations between Uganda and the Czech Republic, with both parties noting the strengthening ties between the two nations.
General Kainerugaba was accompanied by Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, Commander of the Airforce, and other senior Airforce officers.
This meeting followed a previous one in May between General Kainerugaba and Katerina Sequensova, Director General for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic.
Recently, Czech officials also held talks with their Ugandan counterparts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Uganda’s role in regional peace and security was acknowledged, as well as its efforts in refugee acceptance.
Both sides emphasized the importance of defense for national prosperity and expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in this sector.
There was also interest in enhancing tourism collaboration, with the Czech Republic extending an invitation to Uganda to participate in the Annual Holiday Fair scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 in the Czech Republic.
Stephen Kaboyo, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Uganda, was present at the meeting in Entebbe.
