Uganda is set to export more coffee to Serbia. This is after the first consignment of Ugandan coffee arrived at the Connect Trade Hub in Belgrade, Serbia.
The export valued at US$ 56,000 (Shs208.2m) departed from Uganda on April 18, 2024, and reached the Port of Niš in Serbia on July 9, 2024.
The shipment, weighing a total of 20 metric tons, contained 1,000 kilograms of roasted coffee (80% Robusta and 20% Arabica, 10,200 kilograms of green coffee beans), banana flour, tea leaves, Uganda Waragi, and Kakira Coffee Vodka, among others.
Uganda’s Trade Representative to the Balkans, Bratislav Stoiljkovic, says YUGO-VIC-SMC Limited, the logistics company handling shipments to Serbia, has begun sourcing additional Ugandan products for subsequent consignments, with plans for ten more containers in the pipeline.
Serbia boasts a GDP of nearly 100 billion dollars.
Uganda recently hit a billion-dollar mark on its value of coffee exports, with Italy being among the major destinations of the country’s coffee.
