UPDF Soldier, 11 Members of Japadhola Gang Arrested in Mukono

On October 10, 2024, police arrested 12 individuals suspected of being part of the notorious Japodola crew, a gang involved in house-breaking and robbery, terrorizing residents of Kyungu Cell, Nsuube Kauga Ward, Mukono Central Division.

The suspects include Opio Max, a 26-year-old loader at Namanve industrial area; Orach Alex, 26, a casual worker; Ochen Joseph, 22, also known as Snake, a casual worker; Ochara Patrick, 25, a brick maker; Omita Richard, 34, a cobbler and shoe maker; Lubanga Dickson, 18, a casual worker; Oboth Thomas, 42, a casual worker; Bogere Korea, 40, a peasant; Ebeli Steven, 28, a peasant; Ndeke Michael, 37, a UPDF soldier attached to the Uganda railway line; Nabende Gerald, 29, a peasant; and Nakitende Prossy, 30, a bar attendant and opium seller.

Authorities have linked the gang to several cases of aggravated robbery, house break-ins, and burglaries in areas such as Nabuti Cell, Nasuti, Dandira, and Wantoni. Police reports indicate that the group used tools like master keys, wires, knives, pangas, and small axes to carry out their crimes.

Based on credible intelligence, the suspects, who lived together in a makeshift house, are currently detained at Mukono Police Station as investigations continue. The police are determined to restore peace in the community by prosecuting the suspects and continuing operations to eliminate criminal gangs.
