UPDF soldier accused of defiling daughter remanded

The Fourth Division Court Martial sitting at the Fourth Division Barracks in Gulu City on Thursday, September 12, 2024, remanded a soldier after he was accused of defiling his 16-year-old daughter.

According to brief facts, Captain Kennedy Emmy Ocitti reportedly defiled the minor on April 28, 2024, at Labwor-Oyeng, Palabek Gem sub-county in Lamwo district.

Prosecution told court that the minor was sexually abused by the accused upon her return from school on that fateful day.

The minor lives with her four-year-old brother, the accused, as well as her stepmother, according to court records.

After the sexual abuse, prosecution says that the accused threatened to kill the minor in case she revealed the matter to anyone, but that it took the courage of her aunt to report the matter to the Police at Padibe Police Station in Lamwo district, leading to his arrest.

Col. Innocent Tukashaba, the court martial chairperson, remanded the accused to Gulu Central Prison until September 24, when he will re-appear before court for hearing.

His request for bail through his defence was turned down due to the nature of his offence: Capital.
