URA Enforcement Seizes Coca-Cola Truck Smuggling Over 5 Tons of Rice

Busia Enforcement frustrated a cunning smuggling attempt, seizing a

Coca-Cola distributor truck that had concealed over 5 tons of assorted rice. The team had been monitoring the truck’s movements, suspecting it was smuggling rice from their area to Jinja and Kampala.

To outsmart the smugglers, two teams were deployed in an ambush on different fronts. One team, disguised in a pickup truck, surveilling team on Dabani-Manji road. Meanwhile, another team covertly laid an ambush at Naluwerere, the target route.

Despite the challenging weather conditions – heavy downpour and cold , the team persevered taking control of the truck at 2:45 am. The vehicle was then escorted to the tactical yard for further investigation.

Upon verification, the following items were discovered;
Sana Rice 60 bags of 25kg
Baraf Rice 96 bags of 25kg
Mahmood Rice16 bags of 40kg
Zabib Rice 16 bags of 40kg

This successful operation demonstrates the team ‘s vigilance and commitment to combating smuggling. Currently, offense management is underway.
