Woman Possessed with Spirits Leads Police to Hidden Illegal Gun in Tororo

Police in Tororo district have detained Vincent Emodo for illegal possession of firearms.

Emodo was apprehended on Sunday evening following a tip-off about a gun concealed under his bed in Pereje Cell, Pereje Ward, Apokor Town Council, Tororo District.

Police was alerted by Josephine Nyapendi, who claimed that she had become possessed by holy spirits to reveal the gun’s location to Onyapidi Alfonse, who was leading prayers at the time.

“The information was provided by Nyapendi Josephine, who claimed that she had become possessed by holy spirits, prompting her to disclose the presence of the gun to Onyapidi Alfonse, who was conducting prayers at the time,” Rusoke said.

During a search of Emodo’s residence, authorities found an SMG rifle with a bullet already loaded. Further examination uncovered a magazine containing 29 rounds of ammunition.

“A further search of Emodo Vincent’s home revealed one magazine containing 29 rounds of ammunition,” he added.

Emodo initially attempted to evade arrest after the discovery of the weapon, but police successfully apprehended him on October 27, 2024.
