Woman Who Abandoned Medication For Prayer Dies At Pastor’s Home

Police in Pallisa District are investigating the death of Akurut Stella, 29, who passed away at the home of Pastor Okupa Christopher in Apetete village on September 20, 2024.

Akurut, who had been diagnosed with anemia, was advised by a local clinic to seek treatment, including a blood transfusion, at Pallisa General Hospital. Instead, her family opted to take her to Pastor Okupa’s home for prayers. For seven days, her condition worsened, leading to her death. Investigations are ongoing under case file PAL DEF 017/2024.

Her body has been taken to Pallisa General Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death. Authorities continue gathering information to understand better the events surrounding Akurut’s passing.
