YOTV proprietor, Aggrey Mugisha Remanded over shs264m NSSF arrears

Aggrey Mugisha, director of Al Bayan Media Limited, the company behind YOTV Channels, has been remanded to Luzira prison for failing to pay over Shs260 million in National Social Security Fund (NSSF) contributions for his staff.

Mugisha was on Tuesday arraigned before Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court and six charges related to failure To remit NSSF contributions contrary to sections 11(1) & 44(2) of the NSSF Act read against him.

Despite Mugisha’s request for bail, Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi, who was presiding in place of the trial magistrate, denied the request, and Mugisha was remanded.

Prosecution claims that as director of Al Bayan Media Limited, Mugisha failed to remit NSSF contributions amounting to Shs264 million between January and December 2021, and January to December 2022.

The state prosecutor also informed the court that Mugisha had repeatedly ignored criminal summons to appear in court, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on July 19, 2024.
