Uganda Cranes will be among the 24 teams at the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cranes qualify with two matches left, including the Friday home duel against South Africa at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
Qualification was sealed courtesy of South Sudan’s 3-2 win over Congo in Juba on Thursday. This result left the third-placed Red Devils of Congo on 4 points with no chance of surpassing either Uganda or South Africa, who are on 10 and 8 points, respectively.
This leaves the Uganda versus South Africa clash at Namboole as one for pride and or who finishes top of Group K.
Uganda will be playing at their 8th AFCON edition after playing there in 1962, 1968, 1974, 1976, 1978, 2017 & 2019 with the best performance coming in 1978 when they finished runners-up in Kumasi, Ghana.
Already qualified nations are hosts Morocco, former champions Algeria, Senegal, DR Congo, and Egypt.
