Police in Nansana have arrested six suspects believed to be members of a panga-wielding gang responsible for terrorizing Kampala and its surrounding areas. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation in Kyebando village.
The operation began with the apprehension of Kakeeto Imran, who provided information leading to the arrest of five additional suspects: Manaishimwe Emable (23), Nyweza Aaron (20), Muyingo Mike (24), Agaba Godfrey (18), and Mutebi John (17). All are boda boda riders and residents of Kyebando Kabulengwa.
During the raid, authorities seized two motorcycles (registration numbers UGG 375G and UFC 613N) and six mobile phones believed to be linked to the gang’s activities.
The suspects admitted to targeting individuals carrying valuables and using motorcycles to execute their operations. They reportedly employed pangas, hammers, and other tools to rob and break into properties.
One of their most recent attacks occurred in Bukuya, Kasanda District, where victims were assaulted and robbed using pangas.
Police are actively investigating to track down additional associates, including the gang’s alleged leader, known as Sserugo, who remains at large.
