Socialite Don Nasser jailed over defilement, human trafficking

Kampala City socialite Nasser Nduhukire, alias Don Nasser, and Promise Gatete have been arraigned before Buganda Road Court on charges of aggravated child trafficking of a minor for sexual exploitation.

Don Nasser, who was reportedly arrested on September 20, had been evading arrest since the case was reported to the police in June this year. He was arrested at the Malaba border while allegedly attempting to flee to Kenya.

At a press conference at police headquarters in Naguru this morning, Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma disclosed that Nasser used his status and influence to lure young girls into sexual acts.

This morning, Don Nasser and his co-accused appeared in court and denied the charges but were remanded to Luzira Prison until October 8, awaiting committal to the High Court for trial, as their charges carry a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.

According to a file sanctioned by Kira Road Police, Don Nasser’s charge sheet was amended from defilement to aggravated child trafficking after it was revealed that he allegedly slept with a 16-year-old girl. Don Nasser, with Gatete’s help, is said to have committed the crimes at apartments in Kamwokya and Naguru between May 3 and May 27 this year. The victim’s parents reported the case on June 15.

Gatete allegedly befriended one of the victims on Snapchat before scheduling a meeting at Aura Bar in Kololo. She then introduced the victim to Don Nasser at an apartment in Kamwokya. While at the apartment, Nasser allegedly gave the victims cocaine before having non-consensual sex with one of them several times.

The victim informed her parents, who took her to the hospital for a medical checkup before reporting the case at Kira Road Police, which initiated an investigation and began hunting down Don Nasser.

In 2018, socialite Nasser Nduhukire, alias Don Nasser, from Sheema District in Western Uganda, emerged and took over the social scene with his luxurious rides and lavish spending.

He has been involved in numerous scandals, most notably in 2018 when he was arrested over allegations of swindling $1.5 million (about Shs5.5 billion) from an American, Johnny Hill, in a fake gold deal. Johnny flew to Uganda with Interpol officials to recover part of the lost money after Nasser failed to deliver on his promise.

The 75kg of raw gold was valued at $1.5 million (about Shs5.5 billion). Additionally, another complainant, a Dubai-based businesswoman, accused Nasser of fleecing $5 million (about Shs18 billion), which he was also ordered to refund.
