A woman suspected of drugging and stealing over UGX 15 million from a reveller in Nairobi has been arrested by detectives from Kilimani Police Station.
The suspect, identified as Consolata Nyangai, is reportedly notorious for drugging men at various drinking spots across the city.
Her arrest followed a report filed by a Chadian national who accused Consolata of drugging him after a night of partying at Gemini and Quivers clubs.
The victim told police he had returned to his residence at Spring Gardens Apartments with Consolata, where they continued drinking.
After a short while, he became stupefied, only to find that his valuables were missing.
The stolen items included USD 4,000 ( 14,860,000UGX) Kshs 10,000 (283,700UGX), a Samsung S20, and a Corn C105 phone.
A forensic investigation led detectives to a hideout in Kasarani, where they recovered the stolen phones, which were later identified by the victim.
Further investigation revealed that Consolata had recently purchased a 75-inch Samsung TV worth Ksh 107,000 and a Ramtons cooker worth Ksh 55,000, both believed to be proceeds of the crime.
Additionally, two national identity cards—one Kenyan and one Ugandan—bearing the same photograph but different names were found, raising questions about her true identity.
Consolata remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 18, 2024.
